About Us
Joe Mooney, the owner of Mooney Appliance Repair LLC, graduated from Moraine Park Technical College in 1990 with High Honors and placed 1st in both State and National Vocational Skills Competition in Appliance Service. Moraine Park Technical College taught diagnosis, evaluation and repair procedures through troubleshooting techniques in mechanical, electrical and refrigeration principles. Most appliance repair courses have been dropped from the Technical Colleges although the need for the integrity of properly trained technicians is in high demand.
Due to the changes in educational opportunities, properly trained appliance techs are in short supply and new techs don’t have the training to properly diagnose an appliance. Many appliance repair companies in today’s market have turned to a commission-based pay structure encouraging appliance repair techs to make assumptive guesses, order numerous parts needed, or not, in an attempt to repair the appliance as quickly as possible. This philosophy promotes the repair tech to make the most amount of money on the repair, but at the same time increases the overall cost to the customer, without actually diagnosing or troubleshooting the actual problem. Commission based pay structures have their place but not when it comes to getting something repaired.
At Mooney Appliance Repair, we don’t make assumptive guesses at addressing problems. We utilize technical skills, experience and product diagnosis to evaluate issues so we can provide you with an accurate repair estimate for your products so you understand what repairs need to be made before you spend your hard-earned money. This is why we at Mooney Appliance Repair believe that “Integrity Matters” and why Joe Mooney decided to start his own business, and continue to repair appliances as he was taught, as well as train his technicians and staff with the same philosophy.
